A road movie with a difference
This movie begins with a young man, Charlie (Dax Shepard), and his girlfriend, Annie (Kristen Bell), talking in bed. Ti feels like a gentle Woody Allen comedy. Five minutes later, with the first gunshots and car crash, you realize you've been duped - the only thing this road movie has in common with Woody Allen is brilliant comic dialogue. It's a trick that is used repeatedly in the film to challenge your expectations.
Charlie is in the Witness Protection Programme after testifying against a gang of violent bank robbers. For his safety, he has to live under a false name in a small town far from his home in Loa Angeles. But when Annie is offered a job in LA, Charlie has to choose between his safety and his love for her. He chooses love and offers to drive Annie to her job interview in LA. Before long, they are being chased by the gant the testified against, led by Hangover star Bradley Cooper.
What makes Hit & Run different from most action movies is that every character in the film is original and three-dimensional. A great film!
